Artists, collectors and gallerists who wish to present their works must fill out and return an Auction Application Form to the Tehran Art Auction. Experts at the Tehran Art Auction will examine the works to ascertain originality and provenance of the works and to assess the market for the proposed works before they discuss the Terms and Conditions and sign a contract with the owner.
All modern and contemporary works of visual arts with an established market among collectors, gallerists and buyers can enter the auction. The Tehran Art Auction solely presents works of Iranian modern and contemporary art, including painting, sculpture, photography and calligraphy-painting, as well as works of masters of Iranian classical art such as Kamal-ol-Molk, his students and artists of his generation plus works of Persian Painting produced in his time. The Tehran Art Auction will exclude any work of art or historic object and artefact that does not fall within the categories stated herein. Works of Persian Painting and calligraphy to be presented at the auction will be modern distinctive works that are not considered traditional works.
What is meant by the classical art is works of Kamal-ol-Molk and his distinguished students as well as the Kamal-ol-Molk School of Painting that paved the way for a transition from centuries of traditional Persian Painting to modern art. Exceptional works by the artists of the Kamal-ol-Molk’s time as well as modern Persian Painting and Coffeehouse School of Painting may be presented in this section. Modern art goes back to a period of developments in the Iranian art of the last century introduced in the 1940’s. Searching for fresh ideas in Modernism, Iranian artists have attempted to present a new language for art and artistic expression in Iranian modern art.
Contemporary art embraces different approaches to modern art and new methods of artistic creativity. It ignores the framework of modern art to present new themes and a novel language for artistic expression. In addition to works of artists in the realm of contemporary art, works of the artists of the past generations that possess post-modern qualities are also considered contemporary.
