Manouchehr Niazi can be truly considered a pioneer of Iranian magic Realism. His work has a mutual, intimate connection to music and the nature, so that an analysis of his work necessitates a musical interpretation. With an adoration of music, Niazi turns the nature into “dreamlike”, “identical” images of the nature and humans, stimulating the imagination of his audience in a setting that verges both on Realism and Romanticism. The present work, reproduced in a book titled Levitation of Imagination is a witness to this assertion. In addition to strokes and ridges produced by palette knife, simple, special treatment of oil color – a typical technique of Niazi – is clearly evident in this work that presents an original vision and new expression of the nature to the audience. His strong presence in the arena of Iranian painting along with his numerous exhibitions around the world made him a pre-eminent figure in visual arts, with many Iranian and international collectors and museums seeking his work.
